Rubber plant in Omsk cuts emissions by over 90%

The West Siberian Omsky Kauchuk plant will produce rubber without affecting the environment after a major modernization of facilities and installation of new equipment with improved environmental characteristics.

The upgrade does make a huge difference. The technologies now integrated into the production process will reduce the plant’s polluting emissions to 7% of the level allowed by the environmental standards.

The scope of the company’s modernization project involved more than the environmental component of production. The plant increased annual phenol output to 90,000 tons, and acetone, to 56,000 tons. The quality of phenol will also improve; the Omsk plant’s product will now meet the same standards as foreign analogues. As a result, it will be able to replace imported phenol in Russia and find customers in foreign markets due to its high quality.
