Russia and Serbia to prioritize energy cooperation

Speaking at the opening of the 4th meeting of the Commission on Cooperation between the State Duma (Russia’s lower house of parliament) and the National Assembly of Serbia in Belgrade, Viacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma, noted that the Commission “gives consistency to inter-parliamentary interaction, strengthening the strategic partnership of our countries”, website of the Duma reported.

According to Volodin, bilateral trade grew by 1.9% to $2.1 bln and “Russia is the third largest foreign trade Serbian partner in terms of trade turnover” with over 800 Russian companies operating there. In his view, joint projects in energy sector are to be prioritized.
