Russia to build icebreaker with enhanced capabilities

Russia’s Rosmorport federal enterprise plans to build nine icebreakers, including a sea-going Icebreaker 7 class vessel based on the Project 21900M, said Rosmorport general director Vasily Strugov.

The company currently has over 270 operating vessels. In 2018, Rosmorport signed an agreement on the construction of a Project 22740M icebreaker. In all, four such icebreakers will be built before 2024.
