Russia has the second-lowest gasoline price in Europe. Only Kazakhstan has cheaper fuel, according to a RIA Novosti study.
In 2019, the average price of Brent crude oil dropped 9.2%, experts say. However, in January 2020, oil prices rebounded. As a result, gas prices went up in Europe.
Speaking in terms of nominal prices without reference to salaries, the ex-Soviet republic of Kazakhstan has the cheapest gasoline at RUR 27.7 ($0.44) per liter of A95 premium grade fuel. Russia ranks second among the countries surveyed with the same grade at RUB 46 ($0.73).
Experts believe gas prices in Russia will not grow faster than inflation this year. And, given that salaries are growing in Russia, the availability of gasoline will become even higher.
