State Duma deputies from the Liberal Democratic Party have submitted a draft law on adjusting pensions of employed people with disabilities for inflation. There is no such law as of now.

According to one of the authors of the initiative, State Duma deputy Yaroslav Nilov, if the draft law is adopted, disabled people’s pensions and additional fixed payments will be adjusted for inflation.

As of now, only the pensions of not working pensioners are adjusted for inflation, Moskovsky Komsomolets daily reports. The draft bill authors say that disabled pensioners earn very little money, and given that their pensions do not rise, their quality of life goes down. There are currently some 1.5 mio employed pensioners with disabilities in Russia. Some RUR 83.5 bln ($1.2 bln) will be required to adjust their pensions for inflation in 2021.
