Senior user-friendly cell phones now available in Russia

Russian pensioners can now benefit from a new device developed based on senior citizens’ demands.

A cell phone created specifically for older people by Panasonic (Japan) has a flashlight and a powerful battery that lasts for up to 700 hours in standby mode, or almost one month. But most importantly, the senior user-friendly device has a SOS button that dials up to five emergency numbers putting calls on speakerphone. The cell phone can also be connected to hearing aids. It has big bright buttons, which is convenient for older users.

There will be more specialized devices for seniors as developers see a great potential in this niche. It is expected that by 2030, 13% of the global population will be aged over 65. Innovative technology development making older people’s lives easier is among the key technology trends of 2018, according to the CB Insights analytical company.

The research company noted that the market will soon offer a lot of products that help brighten up loneliness and avoid depression, as well as provide the necessary control.

It looks like the forecast is coming true. The American company GTX Corp has developed and launched GPS SmartSole, a non-visible GPS tracking device equipped with SIM-card and mounted in the insoles, designed to monitor the location of the owner (the solution is useful for people afflicted with cognitive memory disorders).

As Invest Foresight reported earlier, in 2018, Israel’s Intuition Robotics released its ElliQ, a proactive robotic companion. The social robot can adapt to the needs of the owner and even maintain an emotional dialogue. Another Israeli company, Hip-Hope Technologies, has invented a device that protects older people’s hips in the event of a fall. If the wearer falls, the smart belt immediately deploys uniquely designed airbags that reduce the collision impact and consequently, the risk of fractures.
