Su-30МK2 simulator launched in Venezuela

On November 27, 2019, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro attended demonstration of a full-scale simulator of the Su-30МK2 aircraft at the Venezuelan air force’s airbase named after lieutenant Luis del Valle Garcia in the city of Barcelona. The simulator was delivered and mounted by Sukhoi company under the contract between Russia’s Rosoboronexport weaponry exporter and CAVIM (Venezuelan Company of Military Industries), web page of Rosoboronexport reported. The opening ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Defense of Venezuela Vladimir Padrino Lopez and representatives of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia and Rosoboronexport.

The simulator is a Russian-built modern technical means of training. The Venezuelan personnel have undergone all necessary training for operating the equipment and devices.

The Su-30МK2 fighters supplied by Russia are the core of the air force of Venezuela. The Su-30МK2 aircraft full-scale simulator allows a pilot to master his skills in the aircraft piloting, to feel the specifics of the air fighter and to acquire necessary experience for effective combat, by simulating various nonstandard inflight situations. Its use also reduces pilots’ training time and costs.

Since 2005, Venezuela has been Russia’s largest Latin American partner in military and technical cooperation. Over these years, Rosoboronexport has supplied a significant number of Russian weapons and military equipment, including the Su-30МK2 multifunction fighters, Mi combat and transport helicopters, tanks and infantry combat vehicles, missile/gun armament, modern assets of the air defense, Kalashnikov assault rifles.
