Twelve unmanned vehicle operator training centers to be built in Russia

Twelve training centers for unmanned vehicle operators will be built across Russia. More than RUR 1 bio ($15.2 mio) of both public funds and private investment will be allocated for the project.

Training courses will only take three months. Trainees will be able to work at storage facilities and operate unmanned taxis and trucks remotely, Izvestia reports. Experts believe it will take several decades for widespread adoption of autonomous vehicles; however, remotely controlled cars may start operating very soon although only within fenced off areas. Frost & Sullivan analysts predict that unmanned vehicles will become a commonplace not earlier than 2025. Trial runs for autonomous cars will begin as soon as this year in two regions, Moscow and Tatarstan.

It was reported that one of the research and training centers for unmanned vehicle operators will be built in the Belgorod Region. Skolkovo researchers believe the educational services market for future operators is worth dozens of million dollars.
