The country’s largest bank is creating a joint venture with Soyuzmultfilm, Russia’s major animated film studio. Sberbank already owns 80% in the company and plans to invest RUR 1 bln ($14 mio) in developing the Russian cartoon industry.

Sberbank announced that the project will be dealing with “unique content.” The joint venture will focus on children’s cartoons and television shows for teenagers. Soyuzmultfilm and Sberbank will also produce motion pictures for family audiences, RBC reports.

According to Sberbank top managers, the partners will be able to improve the status of the Russian animated film industry that is not even included in the world’s top ten.

Sberbank also plans to use animation in its own operations – in particular, in modern technological solutions for various industries, including education and healthcare.
