“Plug and Play” sets up startup hub at Vienna Airport

The American innovation platform “Plug and Play” is establishing its own startup hub at the Airport City Vienna.

The company based in Silicon Valley is thus opening its first branch office in Austria. The branch office at Vienna Airport will bring startups together with investors and companies from all over the world. The hub is designed to serve as headquarters for Central and Eastern Europe with a focus on the issues of “Smart Cities” and “Travel & Hospitality”.

“For Plug and Play, the launch in Vienna is a well thought out step, because here, within the context of the strong partnership with Vienna Airport, we have the best pre-requisites for the successful development of our global concept. Innovation knows no boundaries, and thus does not exclude any industry. In Silicon Valley, Austria has the reputation of fusing traditional quality with what is new. I am very interested in all the technologies we will be able to spread throughout the world from Austria”, said Saeed Amidi, CEO and founder of Plug and Play. The company was established by Saeed Amidi in 2006, and was an early-stage investor, for example, with stakes in Google, PayPal and Dropbox, and also offers world-wide “accelerator programmes”.
