A new Chinese yeast plant has opened in the Lipetsk Region, the first such enterprise in Russia. The project investor is China-based Angel Yeast Co., and the total investment is some RUR 7 bln ($106 mio).

The new plant may become one of the largest dry yeast producers both in Russia and Europe. Plans calls for selling products not only on the Russian market, but also exporting them to the CIS countries and Eastern Europe. The plant’s capacity will be 15,000 metric tons of dry yeast per year. It will also produce animal feed supplements and organic fertilizers.

The construction of the plant Angel Yeast Rus began in the Dankov regional special economic zone in 2016. The new plant has already created 559 jobs, most of which were taken by Lipetsk Region residents. The plant will be able to compete with the Saf-Neva plant in the Voronezh Region, part of the French Lesaffre Holding. In the 11 months of 2018, the plant’s output was 31,600 metric tons.
