Wine stores benefit from lockdown

Sberbank has analyzed Russians’ spending during a period between March 30 and April 5 and found that Russians have been spending 22.9% less money on goods and services compared to the previous week. A similar decrease in spending was noted year on year.

However, in some segments Russians have started spending more. For example, wine stores have benefited from the recent lockdown as Russians have spent 31% more money on alcohol in the past week than over the same period last year, Vedomosti reports.

Russian consumers have also been buying more electronics (17.4% increase). Experts note that the increase is also due to the self-isolation.

At the same time, as expected, people stopped spending money on cafes and restaurants – simply because they are closed all over the country.
