Facial recognition cameras to be installed in Russian schools

Russian schools will be equipped with facial recognition tools to ensure children’s safety.

The cameras will monitor children’s movements and record each visitor as they enter and exit the school. They will also detect strangers, Vedomosti daily writes.

Overall, regional education departments will spend RUR 2 bln ($29 mio) will be spent on the cameras that will be installed by a Rostec affiliate.

Cameras will be installed at 43K Russian schools as part of the Digital Economy national program.
