Nuclear power plant to be demolished in Voronezh

The unfinished nuclear power plant for district heating will be demolished in Voronezh.

Works will complete by December 8 and will require some RUR 29 mio ($460K). The contractor will disassemble the surface structures of the power plant, crush concrete and reinforced structures to rubble and cut the metal tanks for scrap. In addition, construction debris will be removed from the site.

The Voronezh heating nuclear plant was built between 1983 and 1990. The construction was abandoned after the public and experts expressed concerns about the project’s safety.
